Stewardship Programs

Stericycle is the national service provider of choice for Extended Producer Responsibility and Stewardship Programs across the country. This partnership promotes the safe and easy disposal of post-consumer batteries, medications, and sharps waste. The purpose is to ensure single use batteries, unused or expired medications, and any unused or unneeded sharps are safety disposed of through proper disposal channels in compliance with all provincial and federal regulations.

These programs are offered at zero cost to consumers.

As a service provider for these programs, we are committed to helping our partners properly manage waste streams that are a safety risk and pose a threat of contamination to our environment.

Stericycle is a partner in the following Stewardship Programs.

Health Products Stewardship Association

Stericycle partners with the Health Products Stewardship Association to ensure post consumer expired medication and sharps waste is properly collected, treated, and disposed of per provincial and federal regulations. These programs are free of charge to consumers.

Battery Collection and Recycling Program

Stericycle is an approved supplier of the Stewardship Ontario Battery Incentive Program. Stericycle collects post-consumer, single-use batteries from Ontario healthcare facilities, retail pharmacies, and IC&I generators for recycling.
