Fostering an inclusive environment for professional growth and development within the organization is key to our team members’ success. To help cultivate a diverse and accepting work environment, Stericycle has established employee resource groups (ERGs), which are team member-led networks organized around a shared identity and/or interest. We are proud to launch our newest ERG called STAR: Stericycle Talent & Ability Resource Group.
STAR’s mission is to recruit, develop, promote, and foster the abilities of Stericycle team members in an inclusive environment. To support those with, and those affected by disabilities, both visible and invisible, helping raise awareness and creating global opportunity. “This group will help bring visibility and foster an inclusive workplace for employees with, allies of, caretakers of, advocates of, and leaders of individuals with disabilities”, says Joe DeMarco, Executive Sponsor of STAR.
The group’s goals include:
- Improving inclusive hiring efforts
- Creating a safe and empathetic space where individuals with disabilities and their allies can openly discuss issues facing them
- Reducing unconscious bias towards individuals with disabilities
