Stericycle appreciates the opportunity to provide its customers with essential medical waste and compliance services. As a trusted partner, Stericycle is committed to continuous improvement programs dedicated to controlling our costs to provide our customers with the high-quality service they expect.
Here you will find more information about Stericycle’s service fees. These are driven by various internal and external factors that impact our business.
Due to the pandemic, we have experienced unforeseen, significant cost escalations across our operations. As a trusted partner, we have made every effort to manage these expenses but must now pass on some of these costs.
The cost escalations we are experiencing include labor, supply chain, transportation, and disposal, as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has increased by 8.1%1 over the last twelve months. Rising compensation costs have been exacerbated by worker shortages in the transportation industry and increases in long-haul trucking costs. These factors have been further impacted by local, provincial, and federal requirements, new service requests, and changes in waste patterns that have led to staffing shortages and increased costs.
Effective October 1, 2022, Stericycle is implementing a Service Cost Recovery Fee, which is designed to cover cost escalations. The fee is a flat percentage of 8% applied to invoiced services before taxes and appears on the invoice as a separate line item. The fee may fluctuate based on changing economic conditions and will be reevaluated on a regular basis. The latest information will be published here.
We strive for transparency and encourage you to reach out to our Customer Experience team or your account manager with additional questions.
Stericycle has implemented fuel surcharges to address fuel prices. The Fuel Surcharge is a percentage applied to invoiced services before taxes and appears on the invoice as a separate line item. Stericycle uses an index-based surcharge that is adjusted monthly based on the tables below. Stericycle may profit from fuel surcharges.
Changes to the surcharges will be effective the first business day of each month. The fuel surcharges are based on the Daily Pump Price Survey (DPPS) for the month prior to the adjustment.
The prices on these indexes are published by Kalibrate and Stericycle is not responsible for the information provided.
If the diesel rate rises above $283, the 20.30% surcharge will be increased 0.6% for every $0.25 increase in the diesel rate.
Stericycle reserves the right to update or modify the fuel table without prior notice.
If your invoice subtotal is $100, and the Daily Pump Price Survey (DPPS) Prices is $1.19/CAD per liter, the Stericycle-Serviced Waste Fuel Surcharge would be 8.9% based on the table above.
It is calculated as follows:
Invoice subtotal: $100.00
Fuel surcharge: $8.90 (8.9% * $100 = $8.90)
Subtotal before taxes: $108.90 + applicable surcharges and taxes
*This is a per container fee.
