PRIDE month, which is celebrated in June, recognizes the impact the LGBTQ+ community has on the world. Promoting a workplace that is inclusive and diverse is a core value at Stericycle and in recognition of PRIDE month Stericycle joins members of our LGBTQ+ community in celebration. We are committed to ensuring our company is a place where all team members are treated fairly and respectfully, have equal access to opportunities and resources, and can thrive personally and professionally.
Our LGBTQ+ employee resource group (ERG), Freedom of Individual Expression, Respecting Colleagues, and Equality (FIERCE), whose mission is to promote an equitable and inclusive culture for LGBTQ+ team members, celebrates its one-year anniversary this month. FIERCE provides support and resources for Stericycle's LGBTQ+ community in addition to encouraging ally partnership and education. Throughout the year, the group holds a variety of events including open and engaging virtual discussions, guest speakers, yoga, and more.

I’m proud of where Stericycle is and where we are going because now, we have space, and our voices are being heard," says Alejandro Balderas, a leader in FIERCE. "As we enter our second year celebrating FIERCE PRIDE, we know that we can move forward with the assurance that we aren’t just accepted, but we are loved and celebrated at Stericycle. I invite all those who have not engaged with us yet, whether you are part of the community or an ally, to connect with us because Stericycle is here for us, and FIERCE is here for you."
Throughout the month of June, FIERCE has planned some fun and inclusive events for team members. Activities kick off with participation in a local PRIDE Parade in Chicago and are followed by hosting a guest speaker to share their personal gender journey. Later in the month, FIERCE is partnering with team member, Fabian Moore, a leader in our Blacks Unify Inclusion Leadership and Diversity (BUILD) ERG, to lead a session called “Paint the Rainbow.” Participants will be guided through how to express themselves on canvas.
